Sean Pevsner is a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy who operates a motorized wheelchair by the use of head movements. Due to his quadriplegia, Mr. Pevsner cannot write but must rely on an interpreter or a specialized computer to do his work. Mr. Pevsner became motivated to take a lead role in expanding the awareness and protection of disability rights in the community. He encountered numerous barriers throughout his undergraduate and law school careers. Using his experiences and knowledge from overcoming these obstacles, he now assists people with disabilities in breaking down the barriers of discrimination that prevent them from becoming productive citizens. He works in the legal arena to continue achieving this goal in educating people with disabilities on their employment and educational rights. He uses his motorized wheelchair and specialized computer to do his work. Mr. Pevsner is using the EyePro and Say It Sam for his augmentative communication needs. He has found the EyePro to calibrate easier and faster than other eye gaze systems. The EyePro will allow him to become significantly more efficient in typing than his current mouse simulator provides. At only two months using it, Mr. Pevsner types roughly twice as fast as he does with his mouse simulator. Say It Sam provides him with a great word prediction program and an easy way to program phrases for communication. Mr. Pevsner will use this technology to enhance his legal career.
